Reiki Classes – Reiki Is A Way Of Life

28 September 2016

I have been teaching Reiki for close to 15 years and thousands of students have learnt at SoulCentre.
One of the most amazing aspects of Reiki is how life changes after the first lesson.

It’s almost like living in a house with dirty windows and suddenly someone comes along and cleans the windows and for the first time you can really see colours, images and your life clearly.

A whole new energy and atmosphere results and its like life has really taken on a positive turn.

At Reiki we teach hands on healing, which supports the body in its healing process and also bringing it into balance.

However more importantly we teach a way of living life, which allows you to be more connected to this wonderful universe we live in and to move into synchronicity and support as you live your daily life.

What does this mean exactly?

Many situations arise where you simply are amazed at how they happened and there is no logical explanation for them;
  • You think of a person you have not spoken to for a long time and then they call
  • You hear a song on the radio which brings a deep message to you and later something else happens with the exact same message
  • You make a plan to follow your dream and suddenly opportunities arise which previously you could not imagine possible.
  • You need money to purchase something of benefit and then its manifested in some unusual way.
  • You are keen to meet a certain person and a friend of a friend introduces you. The list is endless….
Since learning Reiki my life has truly been guided.

Each step is like a piece of a Jigsaw that fits into place and slowly piece by piece a beautiful image is created.

I am passionate about teaching Reiki to others in a professional manner.

The student attracts the teacher they deserve – this is a fact – and I am fully committed to giving everything I can to support each of my students on their Reiki journey.

Many students have now become Reiki teachers and it is such a joy to see their growth, happiness and passions for Reiki.

I am truly blessed to be able to teach.

Reiki Demystified - What is Natural Healing?

7th September 2016

"Imagine listening to your body and knowing how you can support it - this is the secret of natural healing."
Sally Forrest

Once you tune out of all the external distractions of the world, and begin to tune into yourself and your own inner messages, then miracles can happen.

Reiki natural healing is simply the ability to really connect with and listen to your own body and then use the energy of the universe to bring healing and balance to your body.

A peaceful body is in harmony with itself and is in balance.

A body with “Dis-ease” simply means that it is out of balance and harmony, it has moved away from ease and symptoms now develop.

Sally believes that if a body knows how to make itself "dis-eased" then it also knows how it can make itself healthy and whole.

All we need to do is to tune in and to listen.

Reiki is an easy to learn process whereby you can use the universal energy (the energy that makes the waves form, the wind blow, the trees bend etc.) to bring natural healing to yourself and others.

You begin to have awareness that emotions play a crucial role in our health and healing and learn to see where emotions impact and are stored in the body.

For example if you worry a lot, then your stomach area will be affected and you will have symptoms such as reflux, irritable bowel, weight gain etc.…

If you are hard on yourself, over controlling and take on too much, then you can get headaches and also shoulder issues.

Sally teaches Reiki from beginner level all the way to Certified Teacher level.

A medical pharmacist by training, Sally realised that many people in the world have no access to medicines yet can heal themselves in various ways.

This was the beginning of her journey into the mind-body connections and she has been learning and teaching for over 15 years.

Her next courses are in October and she offers both mid week and weekend dates.

Please do connect- it will be the best gift that you can give to yourself and your family.

Interview with Sally Forrest - Co-founder of SoulCentre

Sally was interviewed this week by Nerissa from Brown and Chase, a leading global company of talent acquisition / advisory, for a pod cast to be broadcast in May.
We are delighted to share a snippet from the interview.

"We are delighted to be speaking today to renowned Reiki master and teacher / former senior corporate executive / medical pharmacist with an MBA / Philanthropist and co-founder of SoulCentre Academy, Asia’s premier Centre for Personal Development, Sally Forrest.

"Sally inspires people worldwide to take responsibility for their lives and to live a life of happiness and holistic health"

Sally let me ask you  “How did you start your Reiki journey”

I am a medical pharmacist by training with a business MBA and so have a science/management background.

I was born in the UK into a large family where money was limited and so from an early age I learnt the qualities of working hard, being independent and going into the world to earn a living.

I worked for a company called Boots and was successful at growing my career rapidly with them. The external rewards of life at that stage were a key focus for me – job promotions, house, and car, gathering more and more.

The universe then stepped in, and out of the blue, Boots decided to go international and I was asked to be part of the team opening Boots stores in Thailand. Thailand was an amazing experience and it was hear that I first experienced Reiki.

The first time you experience Reiki it's like a wonderful comforting warm sensation moving through your body, giving your a feeling of deep relaxation, joy and happiness.

After 3 amazing years in Thailand, the Boots Company asked me to return to the UK to be part of a project downsizing the company. This was a turning point for me. Each day I woke and felt as if my heart was dying.

I felt my energy and passion ebbing away, so one morning I decided to become authentic and to follow my heart and so I quit my role. I decided I wanted to return to Asia and so this is what I did.

A few things were driving me, including a deep desire to set up an orphanage and give back to Thailand. I relocated myself to Singapore and for the first few months I focused my efforts on setting up an orphanage with 2 wonderful people I had met in Thailand.

It was whilst I was working with the hill tribe people in Thailand that I had another amazing awareness, and that was that some people with no access to medicines can heal themselves.

This was the start of my journey to understand the mind, body, health and healing.

I approached Reiki with an open mind and an eager heart. Naturally the mind wants to know the "how’s and whys" of things, and with Reiki is much more about feeling and experiencing it first before you try to understand it.

Once I had this beautiful feeling, I just knew I had to learn it for myself, as I wanted it to be a part of my daily living. Reiki made me feel was as if my eyes had taken an "eye wash" and suddenly the world looked a brighter, more colorful place and amazing synchronicity started to happen.

I just knew deep down that I would go on to become a Reiki Teacher and spread this gift to others. I am eternally grateful to Dr Usui and his authentic teachings of Reiki.

At SoulCentre we teach in a very professional way, with excellent classroom facilities, comprehensive manuals and individual tuition.

Thousands of students have studies with us, and many are now teachers themselves. Students progress at a pace that suits them.

We are recognized as “Asia’s Premier Centre for Personal Development”

Find the passion in your life!

Find the passion in your life!

Many people really do not know what their passion is in life, and so wander aimlessly through life moving from one thing to another without any clear direction.

If a ship does not set a direction, it goes where the water takes it. This means that if a rock approaches then the chances are it hits the rock head on.

So why do we need a purpose in life? Why do we need direction?

Life is precious – it is a treasure, a true gift. Each day we live, we use up one day of our life allowance.

Imagine looking at an egg timer – the sand that has dropped to the bottom is the life that we have used. The question is how much sand do we have left in the top of this egg timer that is left to be used? The answer is simple – we do not know. The next grain of sand to pass through may simply be our last!

So treat each day as if it is more precious than the day that just went by.

Question your life and what you have done today

Have you done something meaningful for yourself and for others? We all have the boring, routine, mundane things to take care of, but these are not life!

What truly makes your heart sing? There lies your passion! Passion is your guide to what you should be doing each and every day. Each day we spend time doing things – so this is how we are living our life! We must create something that we love to do – else we are spending time (our life) for nothing!

So how did Reiki help me?

A number of years ago when I discovered Reiki it was literally like my eyes had taken a bath and the world took on a new meaning. I saw my world through new eyes. Reiki was a path I could walk on to joy and happiness. I decided from that moment to follow my heart and to let JOY be my guiding light – my inner compass. I realized it’s never at the beginning of a journey that you can see the complete path. You have to take a step and then its revealed as you walk.

So I took the first step …then the second and then the third… Now I teach Reiki all over the world, with professional programs and full support. I have also created a beautiful team of like-minded Reiki Masters who will teach alongside me.

Reiki will spread more and more and it is my true passion!

How does this help me the reader?

If you feel lost, and are searching for something more to life, then first look for the signs from the universe. It is not a coincidence that you are reading this article at this moment in your life. Take a step and do something that just feels right and then wait and see what the second step will be. This way you are eventually guided to something that brings you deep joy and peace … almost like returning home to unconditional love.

I am happy to connect with you the reader if you need more help and advice.
I send you my love and gratitude

The Concept of Time

I recently returned from the UK where I had the joy of visiting one of the most well preserved Castles in England - Skipton Castle.

Lady Anne Clifford inherited the estate in 1643 and begain to restore it to its former glory.
The central court yard contains the most magnifican Yew Tree planted in 1659.

A true Yang Wood example if ever I have seen one.
Standing tall and proud and growing upwards as each year passes by.

In todays busy world - we race around at break neck speed, multitasking as we go, measuring time in seconds and making every hour count. I found the tree to be mesmerizing - I was truly transfixed as I entered each chamber and saw the tree in all its glory from different vantage points. It was as if time has stood still for hundreds of years and the stillness around the tree was all that mattered.

For over 450 years the tree has been there - silent - magnificent and simply being in the moment.
  • How many generations of families has it outlived?
  • What intelligence does it posess to keep on living?
  • Who really is the intelligent one in this universe?
  • Why the need for constant business when beauty is found in this stillness?
  • The tree thrives without struggle , without grasping, without chasing….
I really feel we need to slow down and see the teachers around us.
The ones that have stood the test of time.
Nature is truly an inspiration and the more we move closer to it - the more we evlove.

Reiki Brings Joy and Happiness to Lives!

I love to hear from my students about their Reiki journey and how Reiki is influencing their lives. Today I share my interview with a truly beautiful lady (both on the inside and out!). Her name is Christine, and she has such a gentle caring nature, that makes Reiki just so natural for her. She started her training at Level 1 and now has just graduated as a Reiki Master – many congratulations Christine!

Love and gratitude
Sally

An Interview with Christine Schwarz

What brought you to Reiki?

I had my first contact with Reiki about 18 years ago while being at University studying Human Resource Management. One of my fellow students introduced me to a Lady who was a Reiki Master/Teacher and I were immediately fascinated about Reiki and how it worked. Since then Reiki has been bumping into me all the years on many occasions as if saying ‘hey, I am still around you”. I even worked at a school where all sorts of alternate healing methods including Reiki were taught. I knew, I wanted to learn Reiki myself but I never felt ready nor that the time was right or, simply just because I had not found the perfect teacher for me. It may sound like a cliché but then I really woke up one morning and knew – this is it- now or never. Already living in Singapore for the second time, I checked the internet for Teachers and out of the List I choose Sally. Without any doubt I signed up for the Reiki Level One and I am now having my Reiki master training with her.

What Benefits have you seen personally since learning Reiki?

My life has completely changed since Reiki. I do feel much more happy & grounded with lots of energy and in day to day life I do always have a tool at hand that gives me stability in any situation. My health did improve a lot and I rarely go to the doctor’s nowadays. In fact I do feel much better than 10 years ago.

My intuition is so much better now and I chose more and more what feels right for me and my family. I am also more able now to simply accept what life has to offer and instead of always having a plan for everything I do go more with the flow, trusting the process of life and find that solutions reveal themselves when the time is right. Just like that.

How has Reiki Helped your family?

Reiki has helped my family to become closer. I do feel much more connected with my parents now and some difficulties and problems from the past have disappeared after starting my Reiki journey.

Any great Reiki stories to share?

One day my sister in law wrote me an email saying that she was completely stressed out, close to tears and life was a mess. She asked me to do some Reiki on her.  I then gave her a full body treatment via distant Reiki. The next day she wrote another email saying that she felt great now and all the stress had gone. I told her when I had done the distant Reiki on her and she confirmed exactly the time when she started to feel good again... truly amazing.

An Interview With Zoe Russell, Reiki Master in Training at SoulCentre Academy, Singapore

Reiki is often difficult to describe in words- you really have to feel and experience it to know what it is all about. In a series of interviews with students, Sally Forrest, Reiki Master and Principal Teacher at SoulCentre Academy, talks to students about their personal experiences, in an attempt to help people everywhere understand more about the amazing joys of Reiki.
Tell me a little about your background Zoe.
For 18 years I worked in the corporate world, working as a Senior Manager for AMEX's credit control division. It was a very stressful role, collecting money from people who couldn't pay. But I loved working for AMEX, and on top of my direct responsibilities, I had the opportunity to train as a Myers-Briggs facilitator. This is a people development tool, which was all about team building and conflict resolution. I soon recognised that people and their development was my "thing", and became a trainer travelling all over Europe.
So how long have you been in Singapore?
I arrived in Singapore just over 12 months ago, determined to find work as a Myers Briggs trainer, but after I arrived, I decided instead to take some time off to be a Mum, and enjoy a bit of peace in my life. As a trailing spouse, I did not have too much to worry about. Someone cleaned my house, it was financially easier than in Holland, and life was good. But it wasn't long before I knew I needed something more, and so I started to explore and read about crystals, meditation, colours, affirmations, spirituality and so on. I had always been interested in these areas, but this was the first time in my life I had the time to invest in it, because before, I just never had the opportunity to be exposed to this dimension of life thinking.
It was at this time I saw an advert in Expat Living for a free course on "Happiness," which was being presented by Vikas Malkani at the Soul Centre in Singapore. I thought why not? From the first moment I walked in, I felt like I had come home. There is such a strong feeling of love and warmth at the Soul Centre. The best part is the way they welcome everyone - with a BIG hug.
Vikas' talk was inspiring and I just had to buy his 'Guide to Happiness.' Following on from this, I enrolled in a course on crystals and colour therapies, meditation made simple, and the next step was Reiki.
I now know that Reiki comes into your life when you are ready, and I was ready. It was the next step for me to take. From the first weekend after doing Reiki One, I learnt a practical way to feel better. I could heal aches and pains. If I couldn't sleep, I would Reiki myself and fall instantly asleep. If I had a headache, I could treat it.
I have since taken level two, and I'm about to complete the Reiki Master course.
So how have you experienced Reiki from a personal viewpoint?
What I didn't expect when I started was being able to link this together with the whole spiritual side of living your life. It's all in the doing and the believing. You can't just help heal people - you have to live your life by the right principles. Essentially I came to understand that healing begins with you. When you start to learn Reiki, you understand that it's all about yourself first. I'm not used to doing or thinking like this. But the reality is, it just makes perfect sense - you cannot heal others until you learn how to heal yourself. It's very deep and sometimes quite confronting, but it was an extremely powerful process to understand and go through.
It was Dr Usui who rediscovered Reiki and this is what we learn at SoulCentre.
I love the five guiding principles it follows. They are:
Just for today....
Do not be angry
Do not worry
Count your blessings
Live honestly
Be kind to every living thing.
The way they were taught and explained by SoulCentre made real sense to me.
I found the idea of "just for today" really appealing. I am like most people - I can't be successful with this every day. Like any other parent, I get stressed about the kids, or getting them on the bus on time, or my husband being late home from work, etc, etc, etc.. But when I learnt these principles, I would more often than not stop myself and say: why am I worrying about a bus? Why am I angry because the kids are too loud? It's just made me aware of how much of my thinking or emotions are wasted. After all, worry is something that hasn't happened. Worry is a possible future outcome. So when you worry about something, it's worry for an event that hasn't even occurred yet. Regret is the past. It's gone. Why waste any time on it?
The reality is I'm a natural born worrier. I even worried that life was too good - crazy? But I was worried because we were so lucky to live in such an amazing place, and therefore, worried that something would go wrong. It's exhausting. You probably won't be surprised to know that I was also a glass-half empty kind of person...
Suffice to say, Reiki has changed my life in so many ways, and the impact on my family has been massive. Thankfully my husband is totally on board, and really embraces it - asking me to Reiki him almost every day. My children - while still young - are also really into it. If they are bitten by a mosquito they ask me to Reiki the bite. If we are watching TV I put my hands on them. If they've had a bad day at school, I just sit with them and give them Reiki, something they often ask for!
The family as a whole is much calmer, there is less tension and we are all more chilled. Being the Mother, and therefore the soul of the house, I definitely know that it is the changes in me that have brought about the most change. I am calmer and I feel more like a beacon of peace these days. I've always heard it said that women/mothers are the center of the home, and for once, I can really feel and see it.
Reiki is like having a friend - it helps me. I know there is nothing I cannot fix. It has definitely made me stronger and my outlook on life is more positive. On a more practical level, I see real results every day. For example, I had chronic toothache for three weeks and during that time I went to three root canal specialists. None of them could determine which tooth was the problem, so I decided to Reiki myself everyday and while I slept. Three weeks later my pain had gone with no treatment required.
I feel like I'm just at the beginning of a big and wonderful journey. I am looking forward to becoming a Reiki Master and I hope to mentor. Once you enter this world, where you go is all part of the fun, because the more you learn, the more you want to learn, and the more paths open up. I can definitely say that life is good and thanks to Reiki and SoulCentre, it's only going to get better and better.
With love and gratitude
Zoe Russell.

Reiki Student Interviews with Sally

Sally has decided to interview some of her students to help readers get a first hand feeling of their personal Reiki Journeys and Experiences.

Here is Mary Jo, from Switzerland, who got hooked at Reiki 1, studied all the way to Reiki Master with Sally and now will go on to become an Accredited Reiki Teacher Trainer with Sally at SoulCentre Academy.

From student to teacher- an amazing journey….

So Mary Jo, what attracted you to Reiki?

When I first came to Singapore, I was busy making a new life for myself when I first heard about Reiki. It was a wonderful opportunity to do something positive for myself so I immediately signed up for a class. I immediately got attracted to Reiki as it is natural, and especially because I knew that learning Reiki would allow me to take my life and my health into my own hands.

How did you find the teachings?

I was very pleasantly surprised to see how quick and easy it was to learn the basic skills. Everyone in the class had fun giving and receiving Reiki and all of us were amazed at how good it felt and at how effective it was.

So why did you decide to become a Reiki Master?

After experiencing such joy and lightness after the first class, I got hooked! I wanted to learn how to do more for myself and for my loved-ones. This brought me on a wonderful journey of self-discovery and healing which is so amazing, I now want to share it with all.

Thank you Mary Jo for your generous sharing.

Such a dedicated and disciplined student…so will undoubtedly make a great teacher!

With love and gratitude

Sally
